The company SMA is a specialist for digitization of books, artworks and more. The products are used worldwide. The Robo Scan enables the robotic scanning of books in a v-shaped book cradle. A 3DOF robolink robot arm from igus was used and a self-programmed PLC control system. Thanks to the high modularity of robolink, the robot arm could be tailored exactly to the application. The suction tool is an in-house development by SMA. It could be integrated with the robot arm without any problems.
